The purpose is to help organizations make progress toward increasing their economic sustainability and viability. |

LOCAL COLOURS FESTIVAL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR ARTISTS & PERFORMERS - JULY 20 &21 The Comox Valley Community Arts Council is looking for artists and performers who are interested in participating in the 7th annual Local Colours FestivalJuly 20 to 21, 2012. All participants must be local to the Comox Valley. The participants will represent all levels of skill sets; from emerging to professional. Local Colours 2012 will highlight the positive impact arts and culture have on community, and demonstrate the sound business sense of supporting our local talent. This years festival will be held during the 42nd year of the annual Market Day held by the Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association. This connection will increase the visibility of arts and culture in our community and will bring in spectators that would not normally attend or have access to such cultural opportunities. www.elevatethearts.comElevate with Us!Elevate the Arts is a full day culture crawl in the heart of Courtenay to be held Saturday May 5th 2012. Featuring visual art, craft, music, photography, dance, film, kids stuff and much more – the event will be held at multiple venues (inside, outside and the unexpected) throughout the downtown. The Vision for this event is a collaborative celebration where organizations, individuals, artists, businesses all contribute to a rich cultural mosaic. The Elevate the Arts production team is both actively recruiting programming and receiving expressions of interest from folks we don’t know…yet. We’re here to create AND to be the “glue” (marketing, communications and scheduling) for the creative initiatives of others! Elevate the Arts is a not for profit, community driven undertaking that a diverse group of culturally-oriented people. It is our long term goal to develop this event into vibrant and exciting multi-day arts and culture celebration. We would love to have you on board with Elevate the Arts 2012. Date/ Location: Mondays from 10-12, Saturdays 2-4pm at the Muir Gallery The Comox Valley Community Arts Council is excited to offer weekly life drawing sessions at the Muir Gallery. These two-hour, non-instructional sessions are offered with the artists in mind – keep your drawing skills sharp with weekly practice with a live model! Bring all of your own materials – model and tables will be provided. Some paper available at a nominal charge. Cost: Pre-registration is required at $10 per session for CVCAC members.
